WISE is the Women’s Interdisciplinary Society of Entrepreneurship at Northeastern University. WISE is dedicated to showcasing entrepreneurship in an interdisciplinary light and helping women and nonbinary individuals develop an innovative mindset through biweekly workshops, a thought incubator, mentorship pairings, and venture catalyst and accelerator for women and non-binary entrepreneurs. As the design coordinator I worked with the creative team to design print and digital assets to promote WISE to the Northeastern Community.
WeLearn is a series of interactive workshops and discussions that show us how an innovative mindset can benefit anyone, regardless of their profession or academic focus. WeLearns happen biweekly and during my first semester I was tasked with designing the graphics. Each WeLearn focuses on a different topic and as the designer I catered the assets to the topic through icons and elements.
Community is one of our open programs that is the core of our WISE community. This team puts on programming for meeting new people who are also discovering how entrepreneurship applies to them. Similar to WeLearns, I created event promotion graphics catered to the theme.
In WISE, there are cohort based programs to help develop an innovative mindset and build a supportive entrepreneurship ecosystem. WeLaunch is a venture catalyst and accelerator, WeSupport is a mentorship pipeline, and WeBuild is a thought incubator that helps build ventures. As the Design Coordinator programs submitted requests to promote their programs, of the three, I worked mainly with WeLunch and WeSupport.
Try new things! There was lots of room for exploration and new campaign ideas during my time as Design Coordinator and creative ideas were very welcomed. Thinking outside the box to improve our social presence was always fun.
It's important to advocate for yourself and push for transparent communication. When working with 5 other teams it can get busy and requests slip through the crack. When dealing with this I found it best to start early and get ahead.
